Feel like a challenge?
For players who enjoy a challenge and a good workout we offer Match play. These are scheduled team events, which run fortnightly for 6 to 8 sessions. There are three series throughout the season (spring, summer and winter). Match play is free for members of the club, but also open to non-members for a participation fee, which covers the organisation of the series and the usage of the premises.
Match play is arguably the best way to improve your skills. A match is best out of three sets, with a super tiebreak at 1 all.
Singles, played Wednesday nights fortnightly. Players play one match of doubles and one match of singles on the night. This is the most serious of our competitions and we have a ladies and a men's division. If possible both divisions play on the same night, but depending on the number of team entries, they might play on alternate weeks. Ladies start at 6pm and Men at 6:30pm.
Combines, played fortnightly on Saturday afternoons from 2pm. Players play one match of combines (mixed gender teams) followed by a sit-together with shared nibbles. A more social event, but still a good challenge.
Flexi Doubles, played Thursday night 6pm. One match of doubles (same or mixed gender teams). For those who either can't play on the weekends or have never played competitive tennis before, but would like to give it a go.
Ladies League. Played weekly on Friday mornings from 11am. Each team plays one match of ladies doubles followed by a shared lunch. Social, fun and good tennis. The series runs until every team has played every other team and then a new series starts. At which point the teams can be swapped around and new teams can enter.
Teams comprise of at least two players. Please note, teams commit to the entire series. If you can't play all the games of a series, you might want to have more members in your team. If you don't have a partner, but would like to take part, we will endeavour to match you up. And if you'd like to play but the series is already underway, talk to the club captain, she might be able to place you as a stand-in.
